# How and when do I transfer utilities?

With Nomad, landlords are empowered and facilitate all resident move-ins. We recommend transferring utilities directly with your resident to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. This way, your new residents can start their new chapter at your property with ease, and the lights on.

Once the lease is signed, new residents will begin to receive automated messaging from our 3rd party utility concierge, including instructions on setting up utilities in their name in accordance with their lease.
