Resident FAQS at Lease Signing

Here are some answers to help you during the leasing process and when you're ready to move in to your new home

Q: Can I sign my lease now and pay the security deposit later?

A: Security deposits are due when you sign your lease, and are required to secure the lease. Failure to pay promptly may result in having your lease cancelled.

Q: Can I pay the security deposit in installments?

A: Yes! Nomad offers our Security Deposit Installment Plan. You would have been offered this during your application process by our team. If you did not opt in at that time and wish to opt in now, please respond to our team on the email thread we used to communicate with you during the application process.

Q: Can the Nomad Resident Benefits Package (RBP) fee be waived?

A: All residents are automatically enrolled in the Nomad's RBP. The package includes coverage for your belongings, maintenance coordination, credit reporting, and more! The owner of the property can, at their discretion, opt you out of RBP during the lease creating process. Learn more about everything that is included in our package here.

Q: Is Nomad's RBP the same as renter's insurance?

A: Your belongings and the property are covered by our protection plan, which is included with Nomad's RBP. We do not require any additional renter's insurance. Review the full details about what is and is not covered to determine if you require additional coverage for your personal risk tolerance.

Q: What happens if I need to break my lease early?

A: We understand that situations may change. Please refer to Section 2.3 of your lease agreement for the full details about breaking your lease.

Q: How do I submit maintenance requests?

A: The owner of the property is responsible for maintenance on the property. You can submit a maintenance request in your Nomad Portal, which the owner will respond to.

Q: Who is responsible for yard maintenance at the property?

A: The resident is responsible for yard maintenance unless otherwise previously agreed upon with the owner in writing.

Q: When will I receive the keys? How will I move in?

A: Once you have signed the lease and paid the security deposit, you and the owner will work together to arrange the move in. The owner may choose to meet you at the property on move in day, or may make other arrangements to give you access to the property on move in day.

Q: Can I move in early?

A: No, you can not take possession of the property prior to your lease start date. If you and the owner agree to move the lease start date, an amendment can be create to formalize this.

Q: How will I document the condition of the property at move-in?

A: On your lease start date, you will receive an email from hello@getarentcheck.com that will have a link to an inspection form you should complete. If you do not receive the email, please first check your spam folder, then reach out to support@nomadlease.com if you still cannot find it.

Q: How do I transfer utilities?

A: Your lease will define the utilities you are responsible for. You are responsible for getting the correct utilities in your name. We offer a utility concierge, called Utility Connect, who will reach out to you after your lease is signed to assist you with utility transfer.

Q: Can I see the property again before moving in?
A: Sure! Please work with the owner of the property to arrange access after the lease has been signed.
