# How do I opt my resident into or out of the Resident Benefits Package? What are the impacts of doing that?

 

**Q: Can I opt out of the Resident Benefits Package?**

A: Yes, the property owner can opt into or out of the Resident Benefits package when creating the lease. There is a section in the lease builder that describes the benefits of the Resident Benefits Package to both the property owner and applicant. This is where you can select to opt in or out of RBP, and learn more about its benefits.

**Q: How do I remove the Resident Benefits Package from a lease I've already created?**

A: Easy! Simple click the Edit/Cancel Lease button. Your progress on your lease will be saved, and you'll be taken back to your portal where you can change the RBP opt in as described above.

**Q: What do I lose if I choose to waive the Resident Benefits Package?**

A: Opting the resident out of RBP waives the $500,000 [Property Protection Plan coverage](https://help.nomadlease.com/what-does-the-property-protection-plan-cover?hsLang=en) (PPP is funded by the RBP).  Owners should have their own homeowners and/or landlord insurance.  They should also ensure tenants have their own renter's insurance so all parties are protected during the lease.
